!Unique and elegant this vintage Madonna figurine statue is something I've never seen before. She is beautifully hand carved in what looks to be a natural material, perhaps ox bone, I am not positive, just know she's expertly carved with an ethereal quality to her. She is standing with head bowed in prayer...serene, looking at her calms the soul indeed. She is standing in a hinged wooden box which is made of wood, a very dark wood, and being German ( it is marked Germany on the bottom) I am quite sure it is a black forest wood box. This standing box has a cathedral shape to it and when fully opened shows three arches altogether. The front has a tiny knob made of the same material as the Madonna, however I can't close it tightly, don't know if it is just made that way. Other than that this lovely piece is in excellent vintage condition, I took a lot of photos and just email me with any questions you have. The Madonna measures approx. 3~1/4" tall, the total measurement is approx. 4~1/4" high.
