RARE ANTIQUE MURANO VENETIAN POURED GLASS GOLD LEAF WEDDING CAKE GLASS BEADS NECKLACE. Features gold leaf, wedding cake beads in teardrop and round shapes.six, large, teardrop, beads which on average measure 21mm long x 13mm wide (at the bottom) along with and three, large, round, beads, average size-14mm round. Thirty-two smaller, round, gold foiled, poured glass beads and last, twenty-two (22) rondell shaped glass beads63 beads altogether
All capped with gold filigree floral bead caps, all hand knotted with gold color silk string, gold plated fish hook clasp

This type of bead was made in Murano Italy, 1930's-40' era, I show the necklace next to a photo of the beads seen in the book "Glass in Jewelry: Hidden Artistry in Glass" by Jargstorf (pg. 70)
CONDITION: Very good to excellent vintage condition, especially for the type of gold leafing seen here. The information in the book states that the application process of the gold leaf to the surface of the bead is an old technique with the disadvantage being the gold leaf can wear off rather quickly. Because there is very slight wear seen to the gold leafing here I evaluate the necklace to be in very good - excellent vintage condition.
Any way you look at it, this necklace is a desirable and rare piece that would make a beautiful addition to any vintage jewelry collection, and especially a vintage beads one.
