DECO ERA RARE CELLULOID FLOWER CLUSTER BOUQUET PIN BROOCH~COATED STEM STRINGS
This rare and charming brooch is from the 1920's-30's era. It is one of the flower bouquet pins that were so popular at that time. But instead of metal, each delicate flower is made of celluloid and set on very delicate floral stem material. There are a lot of these celluloid flowers which altogether make a beautiful flower bouquet cluster. The center of each flower is made of a glittery composition gold bead. In keeping with the celluloid composition material this pin features, the stems are made of coated string, like the deco era bakelite cherry dangle pieces. The only metal used in this brooch is a single gold plated backing which incorporates the leaves into the same solid piece. This is a fairly thin metal piece, very light in weight but still with wonderful detailed metal work on the leaves. The pin back is also incorporated into the same metal backing, it has a simple clasp design without a lock. The condition of the celluloid is very good, the flower petals have lovely 3-dimensional form with curled edges on some, very unique! I have not cleaned it at all but will do so if requested. The coating on the stems is excellent with no wear to speak of at all. Measuring approx. 3~1/2" long x approx. 2~3/8" across this is truly a very rare example of vintage celluloid and other non metal materials brooch. Sweet!
