DECO RETRO ERA ROSE GOLD FILLED LINKS CHILD ID BRACELET BY GEMEX~SMALL & SWEET
Very sweet child's or baby ID bracelet from the 1930's era. This one is stamped Gemex and the only info I found on this company was in my "American Jewelry Manufacturers" book by Rainwater. All it states there is "GEMEX COMPANY, Newark New Jersey K 1931 manufacturer of watch bracelets. This little bracelet is very small, most definitely for a baby or very young child. It is rose gold filled, most likely never used as it has not been engraved even though there is wear to the tiny links making up the bracelet. I took some very close and enlarged pictures to show this. Not really noticed otherwise unless looking very closely or with magnification. This wear is very consistent per link. To me it looks like it has lain in a drawer or box for many years and just laying against whatever it was on wore the gold off the small links. The ID top area has very faint light scratches on it but nothing serious. Considering its age this is normal wear and does not detract from the look of it in my opinion, however, you be the judge. Marked GEMEX noncorrosive and made in USA on the back. There is no other mark stating the metal content but having seen many many gold filled pieces over the last 15 years I am very sure this is gold filled and not plated. The inside opening measures approx. 1~1/4".
