CHARMING VTG BIG SEASHELL PIN~PINK SHELLS~ROSE BOUQUET~FLORIST LEAVES CELLULOID PIN BACK
I am always enchanted by these vintage seashell pins, they are so delicate and beautiful. This one in quite large and features small seashells, some dyed pink, assembled together to make lovely rose blooms. There are 8 roses altogether here, 5 are made into full open roses, and 3 are rosebuds. Beautifully designed with various sizes of roses and shades of pink graduating from a true light pink, to very pale pink, to just a tinge of pink on the shell petals. These rose blooms are glued onto flat clear round celluloid discs which are then attached to old floral wire and backed with big green florist leaves. A seashell corsage. This looks to be from the 1940's-50's era. The pin back is a long oblong celluloid strip with a metal pin attached to it. This piece has then been glued onto a bigger square shaped celluloid backing which is glued to the back of the leaf cluster. There is still a very delicate fern frond tucked in front of the leaves behind the roses. It looks like a Plumosa fern frond but I am not positive of the variety. Some of the tiny fronds are gone now but enough of the frond remains to see it is a fern and it is just charming. The brooch corsage is in excellent vintage condition overall. The seashells which make up the rose petals are all intact with no damage at all. The only piece I see which has disintegrated a bit is the fern frond and it's amazing that it is there at all. It measures 5~1/2" long x 4" across at it's widest point. If you are a collector of these types of pins you will love this one for sure! Sweet!
