VTG HUGE ORANGE PLASTIC BEADS NECKLACE~BIG GOLD FILIGREE BEAD CAPS & FILIGREE GOLD BEADS~RONDELLS HAND WIRED POSSIBLY MIRIAM HASKELL
Plastic can be ornate and elegant, and this necklace shows this beautifully! Huge orange plastic beads are hand wired together to make this beautiful piece. These beads are round but have irregular shapes, like giant smooth rounded nuggets which are graduated in size. Added to four of the largest sized beads are incredibly huge and gorgeous gold filigree bead caps. These of course are gold plated with a very rich and beautiful gold finish which is not unlike the Russian gold plating you see on the old Miriam Haskell jewelry. Very interesting because the rondells, bead caps and construction seen here has elements that are very similar to Haskell jewelry. On each of these beads which have the bead caps are rhinestone rondells and small ribbed gold beads. Two huge ornate gold filigree beads, (also with the rondells and ribbed gold beads), add even more texture and interest to this piece. Then to top it off there are tiny star shaped bead caps on all of the rest of the beads. This is quality that is seen with designer pieces so I am thinking this is a designer one which may have had only one item in the parure stamped when it was made originally. No matter what, this necklace has a lot of different elements going on making it quite the unique piece. It may be dressed up or down and would be a very nice addition to the vintage jewelry collection. It is from the 1950's-60's era and measures a bit over 26" long. The biggest orange bead measures a whopping 25mm round and the filigree beads measure 17mm. Nice!
