BIG FAB HAUTE COUTURE SEASHELL SHELLS & MOP BEADS NECKLACE~HUGE SLAB BEADS
Very striking vintage seashell necklace featuring some fabulous dark and very large slab shell beads which look like tortoiseshell. However, when you look at them with the light behind them they are actually highly polished shells which most likely have been dyed to make them this dark brown color. These are all large but the middle one in the center is HUGE measuring 2~1/8" long x 1~1/2" wide. The rest of the shells are hand strung in clustered groups all across and on top of the dark shells. There are several varieties of seashells in this group, some are quite small, others are in various sizes and shapes and some are cut into circle shapes. All are strung together onto a double silk cord which is all black and has a looped clasp where a cluster of round beads go through to secure the necklace when wearing it. This piece looks to be from the 1970's-80's era and in in excellent vintage condition. Beautifully made and very artistic, it is a striking necklace which will certainly be one of the more unique items in your vintage jewelry collection. Measures 19" long with the center design area measuring 5~1/2"across x 3~1/4" long.
