EDWARDIAN GUILLOCHE ENAMEL ON STERLING SILVER LINGERIE CLIPS~INTRICATE MACHINE TURNED DESIGN~ATTACHED PAIR
Extremely fine guilloche enamel work on sterling silver, these are Victorian Edwardian era (what seem to me) lingerie clips. Please correct me if this is not what these are as I am not entirely positive as to their function. I do know the enamel work is fantastic. Like matching miniature works of art the white enamel shows an incredibly ornate and intricate design beneath it and a lovely pink rose surrounded by leaves is featured in the center of each oval clip. There is also a delicate metal border surrounding the rose.These are attached to the finest of silver chain. The condition is most excellent, no damage to the enamel at all. These may be small but they are very solid with nice weight to them at 8.7 grams.The silver has darkened but I want to leave it as it is since most collectors want the dark patina that develops over time on these very old pieces. Each clip measures 3/4" long x 1/4" across. The length of it measures 8~1/8" which includes the clips. The chain not including the clips measures 6~1/2" long. Stamped sterling on the back of each clip.
