VTG SLIDE STYLE RHINESTONE NECKLACE & EARRINGS SET~GORGEOUS BIG YELLOW TOPAZ GLASS STONES
Gorgeous vintage rhinestone necklace and earrings set from the 1940's-50's era. Big chunky oblong square rhinestones in a glorious yellow topaz color make this necklace pop! Featured are 3 big stones, two of which are soldered onto the chain and a third one which is articulated and sways gently from the center of the soldered ones. Stacked on top of these are flower shaped clusters of rhinestones in topaz and peridot green which are set in filigree metal. They look like they are growing on top of the large stones, very lovely and unique. This makes a large and striking centerpiece which is soldered onto a gold plated serpentine chain. It is made to look like a huge slide, however it is stationary. Four rows of the serpentine chain drop from beneath this centerpiece and rhinestone brilliants drop from the bottom of each row. I purchased this from a collector who said it was a designer set but couldn't remember who it was. Big help, lol! The way this is made is very distinct and this design is one I have seen every now and then during my antique show selling days. In any event, I also had similar pieces with this design but not very often. I am hoping a collector will be kind and tell me who made this set if they know who the designer is.The metal has a beautiful antique gold finish on it and it comes with matching screw back earrings. It is in excellent vintage condition with maybe just a hint of darkening on the edge of one of the big stones. Very faint, but noted. The necklace measures 15" long and has a fold over clasp which has two tiny brilliants set in the top of it. The "slide" centerpiece measures just over 2~1/2" long x approx. 1~3/8" across. This includes the chain beneath it. The earrings measure 1/2" long.
