OLD 1940'S CELLULOID NECKLACE~IRIDESCENT FRUIT ON BIG SEASHELL~WOOD & PLASTIC BEADS
Very pretty and unique necklace from the 1940's era. This one features a long celluloid chain which has pearlized double links and very, very, light pink, single links. Dropping down from the chain are semi transparent frosty plastic beads, opaque pink plastic beads and light wooden beads. These have been hand wired to the chain and are dangling along most of the length of the chain. The bottom center has a cluster of all of those plus several large, transparent, semi flat light pink beads (which look like wide scoop shaped leaves). These drop and dangle onto a large seashell which has an iridescent pink & gold apple set in the center of it. Along with the apple is a pearlized silver fruit of some sort and green leaves made from a stiff material of some sort. Reminds me of the old hats which had this type of decoration on them. This sounds a bit strange as I describe the necklace but it really is lovely on. All of the beads dangle nicely and the centerpiece makes a beautiful and impressive focal point. And the colors, they are delightful! It is one of the most interesting and pretty celluloid necklaces I've had. Especially with the seashell. If you've shopped and purchased from me you know I have a passion for seashells, lol! In any event, this necklace is really quite charming and would be a great piece to wear for the spring summer months. In excellent vintage condition too! This piece has no clasp but it goes over the head easily. (unless you have an unusually big head) It measures approx. 23" in length with the centerpiece measuring approx. 2~1/4" long x approx. 2" wide. Sweet!
