UNIQUE DECO ERA FRUIT BOWL PIN~HIGHLY GLAZED CERAMIC FRUIT~ DETAILED BRASS BOWL
Very unique fruit basket brooch from the 1930's-40's era. The fruit is made of glazed ceramic in colors of aqua, mauve and yellow. This fruit is made in 1 piece and is set on top of a brass bowl/ basket. The fruit piece also has a brass back support. The brass portion of the pin is actually made in one solid piece with the ceramic fruit applied to it. The way it's made gives it a 3-dimensional quality, the fruit looks as if it's piled into the bowl. Very Cool! The quality of the work here is excellent, the brass bowl or basket shows nice detail as does the fruit. Bananas, grapes, 2 pomegranate fruit, and a pear are depicted here. The pomegranate fruit gives it a Mediterranean feel, a bit unique for fruit basket jewelry. I thought the ceramic fruit might possibly be a miniature Weller piece but I am not positive about this. It is in excellent vintage condition, the brass has a lovely patina which I would leave unpolished. Measures I~3/4" across x just over 1~1/2" long.
