VTG 1950'S IRIDESCENT PINK LUSTER BEADS NECKLACE~GOLD FILLED CLASP
The beads in this vintage necklace are gorgeous, they are big with a highly iridescent aurora borealis coating on them giving them an amazing luster, really beautiful. I had been going back and forth on whether they are glass or plastic and have decided they are plastic. They do look more like glass, but when looking really close some of the beads show a bit of wear to the AB coating and they look like plastic beneath the coating. Where it not for that I would have listed them as glass. The beads are quite heavy also, so they are a hard plastic with good weight. Some beads have a hard brilliant luster, others have a soft satin coat, some are pink, some white, altogether a lovely shimmering combination. The beads graduate in size with the main ones at the front being very large. The biggest measures 17mm round. Made of two strands which are also graduated in length, the shorter one measures 27" long. The string work is beautiful and has not loosened at all over time. The clasp is a very high quality one which is stamped in tiny numbers and letters on the back which read: 1/20 12 KT G, beneath that it's stamped A & Z. I'm not positive about the &, but that's what it looks like to me. It looks to be from the 1960's era. As stated earlier some of the AB coating shows slight wear but this does not detract from the piece at all, it still shows a rich luster and does not affect the beauty of it. Looks fabulous on and will be a terrific addition to the vintage jewelry collection.
