VICTORIAN HEAVILY EMBOSSED THICK WATCH FOB SWORD BELT CHAIN~HUGE HEAVY SUBSTANTIAL PIECE

Very large and interesting Victorian watch fob chain which has an oblong piece attached to one end of it which I am thinking is something that might be a knife or sword holder. It measures 2~1/2" long x 7/8" wide and is open on the inside of it, probably to hold something, maybe some knowledgeable ebayer will email me some info on this. It has a heavily embossed figure on one side of it which what to me looks like a soldier from the time of the crusades. He is holding a sword in one hand and a shield with a cross on it in the other hand. With a helmet on his head, he's ready for battle. The chain is beautiful, it has big, heavily embossed ornate links. At first I thought it was made of solid brass but after looking at it with a loupe I see copper beneath the brass color and realized it is solid copper with a heavy brass plating on it. Hanging from the other side of the chain is a huge spring clasp. Judging from the size and weight of this piece it must have been made to hold something very substantial. It is excellent condition, you would have to do something drastic to damage this piece, lol! It measures 23" total length. the chain alone measures 18~1/2" long. It was too big to weigh on my jewelry scale but on my postage scale it weighs 6.2 oz. This must be a rare item, I've looked all over the net to find one like it and there is nothing that compares in size, weight and scope to this. Very cool.
