RARE MAZER PIN~ART DECO POTTED TREE~RHODIUM PLATED~ BIG BRILLIANT RHINESTONES
Mazer Brothers was founded by Joseph Mazer and his brother Louis in 1927 in New York. One of the Mazer Bros. best known designers was the talented Marcel Boucher who left to open his own company in the mid 1930s. Marcel Boucher, who designed for Cartier at that time, encouraged the Mazers to open their own company which they did. The brothers separated their operation after World War II, pieces after that were stamped either Jomaz or Mazer. Whether the jewelry is stamped Mazer Bros. Mazer, or Jomaz, the jewelry made by them shows the highest of quality & workmanship
This gorgeous brooch is a rare design of a potted flowering plant or tree all prong set with a variety of rhinestone shapes and sizes. Sparkling brilliantly it features faceted stones including marquise, round, elongated square and baguettes. The design is unique, the tree looks like a blooming variety showing graceful branches with flowers dropping at the bottom of them. So creative using only the various cuts and shapes of the stones to depict this. The flower pot is depicted by baguette and round rhinestones, just a masterpiece of design and construction. It is heavy and has a rhodium finish on the metal, stamped Mazer on the back. This piece is in excellent vintage condition. A few of the marquise cut stones have darkened, but very slightly, and with the extreme sparkle in this brooch this is not noticeable, only if you look at them a very close range or with a loupe. The facet work is intricate on each stone, more cuts were made per stone for maximum brilliance. You see this in the high end pieces such as Eisenberg, Trifari, polcini, Ciner Weiss and some other companies who exhibited only the finest of workmanship. The brooch measures 2~1/2" long x 2~1/8" wide.
