ART DECO DRESS CLIP~BIG OPEN BACK CRYSTAL STONES~ EXTREME INTRICATE FACET WORK
This deco dress clip is breathtakingly beautiful. The cut and size of the open back faceted crystal stones, the rhodium plated metal, and the very large size makes this an especially desirable piece for the collector of period art deco jewelry. The stones are extra big and super clear with intricate facet work in each one. There are 6 square stones, 1 oblong stone and 10 round stones in the large sizes. 21 small rhinestones in several sizes are set throughout the piece adding a lovely accent to the big stones. All of the big stones are prong set and all but one is open back. The stone which has the clip mechanism directly behind it is foiled on the back. It is original to the piece, matching the others perfectly. I think that one is foiled because it has the top of the clip mechanism attached there and it needs the foil so a portion of the stone doesn't show black behind it at that area. The cut of the stones is so extreme and beautiful that the round stones look like white sapphires. It is in excellent vintage condition. The rhodium plating is all intact and all of the stones are excellent as well. This clip looks stunning worn alone or added to a chain or strand of pearls to be worn as a necklace. It measures 2~1/4" across at the center widest point and is 2~1/2" long.
