VTG 3-D RHINESTONE JELLY BELLY BIRD NECKLACE~PARROT PERCHED in a BIG CAGE~LQQK
From the 1960's era this beautiful & unique vintage rhinestone necklace features a very big bird perched in a large stylized cage. The rhinestones are all clear with the exception of one blue stone depicting the eye and the very large faceted oval lucite stone which is depicting the bird's breast. Actually... it's a big faceted jelly belly bird necklace. The clasp is a hook design with a rhinestone set on the top of it and the necklace is totally adjustable. The bird is very 3-dimensional and BIG, looks somewhat like a parrot but is unusual enough for me to say it could be some other variety of bird. Mostly a delightful artists interpretation of an exotic bird. This sparkling bird has exceptional form with finely detailed feathers folded gracefully on his body, rhinestones at his head and beak, and an especially sparkly long tail. The tail has 8 rows of prong set clear rhinestones which are soldered to the body of the bird. Then there are seven more rhinestone rows attached to the bottom of the soldered portion which dangle down in graduated lengths giving the piece movement and even more interest. The bird cage itself is set with small rhinestones which are smaller than the stones in the body and tail while the neck chain is set with bigger rhinestones. The condition of this necklace is very good vintage. I will note that some stones have darkened but not enough to detract from the beauty of this necklace. The metal is silver plated and shows no wear at all. All in all a totally neat piece and if you collect and wear unique vintage jewelry I am sure you will love to have this bird in your collection. Measures 24" total length, the parrot measures 4" long x 2~1/4" wide which includes the total length with cage. The photos just do not capture the impressive size and dimension of this piece.
