WOW !! What a very nice find indeed. Condition is everything on a box like this, It is excellent vintage in every way except the closurure is slightly bent. Although it does not hinder the operation at all and it does shut. The figural is that of a maiden playing a violin for a dancing angel complete with a floral wreath and wings. I am unsure exactly what the box is made of. If it is leather then it is shagreen, if not and it is just solid wood, then my guess would be burled maple or walnut, I'm just not sure. it is hard to tell especially when you don't know your wood lol!. At any rate this is an extra fine box and very nice addition to any vintage box collection. It measures approx. 4" by 4 1/2" by 1 3/4" tall .
