UNUSUAL OLD PLASTIC CELLULOID FLOWER PIN & EARRING SET
Unique brooch and earring set from the 1940's era. Made with an old light plastic material or celluloid which has been painted and then laquered or coated with a nice gloss. The pin is a double flower which look to be chrysanthemums. The leaves are not true to the flower varity but that's what makes art design so interesting! I may have the flower variety wrong myself, but either way they are blooms of some sort. These are beautifully made with thin strips of this plastic material. They are large, very 3-dimensional, and are a lovely mauve color. They are set on top of the very lovely green leaves which are attached to a long gently curving stem making the brooch quite large. The matching earrings are clip back which have a mechanism that was used in the 1940's time frame, so I am dating this set 1940's-early 50's era. The set is in excellent vintage condition with no damage or color loss at all. An unusual vintage set it, would be great to wear any time of the year. The pin measures a bit over 4" long x just over 2" wide. Being so dimensional it really stands out. The earrings measure approx. 1" in diameter.
