This is one awesome, carved, solid piece of amethyst in this vintage pendant from Mexico. It measures an incredible 2" in diameter by itself! This pendant is hand crafted with artist initials that look like a stylized E and RR stamped in the back. Also stamped Hecho en Mexico, 0925.From the 1930'3-40's era.The amethyst is set a silver openwork design, simple and elegant. There are silver balls on the edge of the openwork silver, and one of the balls is gone. This can easily be added by a jeweler, but really is not noticed unless pointed out.The stone has an aztec or mayan face carved in it, but is quite subtle. The total measurement of this pendant measures 2 5/16" in diameter, or a bit over 2 1/4". The huge amethyst makes it a heavier piece, so one has to be used to wearing this type of jewelry to be comfortable in it. The necklace is strung with faceted amethyst beads and silver accents. I strung this myself as I wanted to have a wearable piece. it is not original to the pendant, but is appropriate to the piece and looks fantastic with it.The length around the neck is an adjustable 18 1/2".
