Seashells, pearls, vintage plastic or lucite orchid, filigree butterflies with hand wired vintage glass pearls, rhinestones, this has a lot of different elements that I decided to use. One of my favorite subjects, the seashell, was my inspiration, however, other subjects from nature were put into this necklace. I love the old vintage pieces and the peachy coral colored orchid is a piece from the 1950's. It is made of plastic or lucite. This piece lies along the edge of 2 beautiful natural seashells that I layered one atop the other. As I was working on this I spotted two really pretty gold toned openwork metal butterflies that I added on top of the seashells. Then...I decided they needed something, so I hand wired some lovely vintage glass pearls onto them. The seashells looked like they needed a bit of peachy golden color on them so I painted a light iridescent wash of those warm tones onto them. But...I decided they needed a bit of sparkle, so I added tiny clear rhinestones intermittantly onto them and some clear flatback rhinestones to the edge of the bottom shell. I then strung two colors of genuine coin pearls onto this centerpiece to make a three strand necklace with an off set center design. The pearls are gorgeous in bronze and champange colors! I finished with vintage glass pearls that drop from the centerpiece. I love to mix various elements in my designs and this has it all! From vintage plastic to real pearls, items from nature, man made pieces, soft and sparkly, all of these elements can be found in this piece.This necklace is an adjustable 24" total length. The centerpiece measures a bit over 4" at the longest part and 3~1/2" wide.It has a silver Ellen Original tag on the back of it. And... it looks fabulous on!
