VTG LAVALIER NECKLACE~RARE 2 TONE LONG PEARLIZED BEAD DROPS~SILVER GRAY & PEARL
Beautiful pendant necklace lavalier from the Edwardian - 1920's era. I am not sure if this is a Czechoslovakian piece, it could be from one of the other European countries which made these lovely pieces. It's unique in that the glass beads used here have two colors of pearlized coating on them. The bottom of each bead looks as as if it was dipped in a dark silvery grayish black pearl color and the rest in a light silver gray pearl coating.Very cool. There are 5 rows of these pearlized beads which drop from a lovely silver metal piece which features an open center and delicate open metal work along the outer area of it. The open area of the metal piece has a tear drop shaped bead which drops from the center of it also. The neck chain looks delicate but is actually very strong and supports the large pendant well. This chain looks like it is sterling silver but I have not tested it and it is not marked. Made with slender, elongated links in between smaller rounded links, these are soldered together and have a fine embossed design in each link. Tiny silvery gray glass beads are hand wired near the top of the pendant and to the neck chain which has a slender barrel clasp. The metal has a dark patina on it now, just beautiful. The necklace measures 15~1/2" long and the pendant is 4~3/8" long x 1" wide.
