VTG 5 STRAND PEARLIZED GREEN & ART GLASS BEADS NECKLACE~GORGEOUS BIG IN SHADES OF TEAL
This beautiful necklace dates to the 1950's-60's era. Made with 5 graduated strands of the prettiest teal green pearlized glass beads in several shades, from light to med to dark teal in graduated sizes. Adding a striking contrast to the green beads are art glass beads which are seen in two colors. Some are a light tan with delicate grayed black veining throughout, the others are the only ones which are made of plastic. These are beautiful mint green colored beads which have a marbled design in them with gray to black marbling throughout. Tiny transparent gold glass spacer beads are strung in between each larger bead. It has some weight to it due to the many glass beads, but it is a comfortable necklace to wear if you like the large pieces. What makes this an especially nice necklace is that there are 2 colors of metals used. The connectors to which the 5 strands are attached to are beautifully textured and made of gold plated metal. The filigree bead caps look more silver than gold and silver plated metal is used in the extender chain. The clasp is a shepherd's hook style which is stamped Japan on the top of it. It has a very light bright gold plated finish on it. Altogether this is a very lovely and striking piece. The condition is very good - excellent vintage. The beads are excellent with the pearlized coating completely intact on all of them. There is just a tiny bit of looseness to the silk at the ends of the strands at the connectors which is normal in heavier necklaces from this time period. The metal knot covers and jump rings have darkened and now have a nice patina on them. The top shortest strand measures approx. 15~1/2" in length and the extender measures 3" in length giving this a necklace 18~1/2" total adjustable length. The center drop length is between 5 ~1/2-6" long. Very nice!
