WWII ERA MIRIAM HASKELL PIN~GILT CHAIN~WOOD BELL DANGLES~ PLASTIC FLOWER CENTERS
Fabulous early Miriam Haskell brooch from the (pre-signed) WWII era. This one is whimsical featuring dangling wooden bell beads dropping down from a braided cord chain and a cluster of bells dropping down from the top pin bar also. Though unsigned it has the distinct materials and construction seen in the early Haskell pieces. The pin bar has a pierced brass metal back and is hand wired with wood beads and plastic green flowers all over. Making it even more fun (and rare) is the braided material chain instead of a brass chain from which the bells dangle from. This braid has brass tulip bell caps at the ends and is coated with a thin plastic material of some sort. This coating has worn off quite a bit so you see an intermittant combination of the darker brown plastic and the lighter color of the material throughout the braid. This just gives it charm and shows it has aged beautifully. The material of the braid is completely intact with no other signs of wear. The piece other wise is in very good vintage condition missing excellent due to the fact that 2 of the wooden bells have lost their charming little plastic flower centers. This is not noticeable as the bells are in the center cluster area and you don't see they are gone unless you turn the bells up and look inside. This will make a terrific addition to the early Haskell jewelry collection as well a striking and unique brooch to wear. Measures 3" long x approx. 2~3/4" wide. Charming...
