BIG HEAVY ENAMELED STERLING SILVER PENDANT~HAND MADE CHAIN~PERU~INITIALED CML
Gorgeous and huge sterling silver pendant from Peru.This is a high quality piece featuring extremely competent enamel work and a 3-dimensional center figure of a pre-Columbian figure, possibly a war God as he is holding a head in his hand. The center green enameling is a very interesting and beautiful... mottled, with a watercolor effect. Black, and red enameling is used on the right and left side of the pendant, very striking. It is stamped Peru, 925, and also has the initials CML on the back of the piece. I'm not positive if the last letter is an L but that is what it looks like to me. It may be 1/2 of another C. This is not one of the more crudely made tourist pieces which usually have a llama on it and are made of coin silver. This is quality construction, heavy and solid. It weighs 2.8 oz. which includes a sterling silver, hand made linked chain. The pendant measures 3" x approx. 2~3/4" square. It measures 25" long.
