VINTAGE OLD JADE LAVALIER NECKLACE
I put this piece in my Ellen Originals category
as well as Victorian and Czech jewelry
even though I didn't have much to do here.
I had the pendant which did not have a neck chain
and I also had these beautiful green Jade beads
which needed restringing.
So, I decided to put them together to make this necklace
Dated to the 1930's era (all components)
The jade beads are graduated in size with
the largest center beads measuring 12mm and 15mm round.
Those are the ones you see dropping down to to the pendant
as well as the one hanging down in between the long drops.
I added those to the design, they have beautiful bead caps on them.
The pendant features filigree brass metal, intense green glass cabochons
and round glass beads set in it.
It has 5 dangles dropping down from it which also have the glass cabs set in them.
The pendant looks Czech but I am not entirely sure if it actually is
Even so, it rivals Czechoslovakian lavalier pendants I've had in the past.
The unusual glass cabs are not solid green but show
variation in the green shade in them. Their color is intense,
a teal green that shows a lighter misty background green shade.
This can be seen in the photos.
Nothing is wrong with any of the stones, a reflection which is seen in the last photo
makes look as if there is a problem with the large center stone.
It's just something that showed up when taking the photo
It was also starting to rain when I was taking the pics outside
so the other small spot there is a raindrop.
The pendant is in good vintage condition.
The only thing to point out is the metal in the drops shows what look to be scratches.
I think these were done in the making of the piece, maybe to give it a distressed look.
Regardless of that, it does not affect the beauty of the pendant in my opinion.
Altogether a dramatic and beautiful necklace to wear anytime.
Measures as follows: Neck length - 16~1/2"
Center drop - approx. 3~3/8" long at the longest drop point x 2~2/16" across
Total drop length from the necklace - 6".
