Wildly unique, this vintage celluloid heart and seashell pin dates to the 1920's-30's era. The celluloid heart is a dark navy blue color with the word "MOTHER" hand wired across the width of it. This is done with silver (plated) wire. It drops down from 2 chains which are connected to a large seashell that has the pin back attached to it. Must be hand made but it is put together beautifully, very clean in the connecting areas. Small, very pale blue, seashells are also hand wired to the bottom of the celluloid heart in a flower cluster design. I've never seen a piece like it and if you are looking for a most unusual gift for Mother's day this will certainly be a brooch to buy. But your mom would have to love and appreciate antique jewelry, old, old, celluloid, seashells, and somewhat wild looking stuff, lol~ This piece is in very good - excellent vintage condition, no issues to point out. This is not a timid piece, really quite large. Altogether it measures 5~3/8" long. The heart measures approx. 2~1/4" long x 2" across at the top, the shell measures 2~1/8" across.
