The seashells in the necklace are some of the most beautiful I've seen in vintage jewelry pieces.
From the 1950's era, this is a 3 strand shell necklace with the middle strand featuring iridescent wavy turban seashells. The pointy tops (or turbans) have been sliced off allowing them to lie flat on the neck. These shells are truly exquisite with a shimmering iridescence that is mesmerizing. The detail in design in nature God created is breathtaking and these shells are a wonderful tribute to the beauty found on our planet
The top and bottom strands are strung with polished seashell mother of pearl chip beads and tiny shell beads. Intermittent maroon and green colors are seen on the tiny beads which looks to be paint lightly brushed on. Both varieties of these shells are also used in between the the turban shells for spacers.
The strands graduate in length and are attached to very light color gold plated embossed connectors. It is made to be adjustable in length with a 3" extender which is made of hand wired seashell chip beads
The shepherd's hook clasp is stamped Japan in tiny letters on the back of it. This necklace is in excellent vintage condition measuring 16" total adjustable length.
